Southern Indiana Landowners' Survey

The Center for the Study of Institutions, Population, and Environmental Change (CIPEC) at Indiana University studies deforestation and reforestation in research locations including Brazil, Mexico, Uganda, Madagascar, Nepal, and the United States. This summer we are doing fieldwork in southern Indiana to explore how landowners make decisions affecting their forests. A primary objective of this research is to understand what factors have contributed to the process of reforestation in south-central Indiana.

Our summer fieldwork consists of two main components. The first component is a mail survey sent to landowners in six counties in southern Indiana that includes questions related to the land management decision-making process. The second component consists of interviews with land trust organizations.

If you have been contacted to contribute to this study and have any further questions or comments about this research please feel free to contact us by phone (812-855-2230) or email (cipec@indiana.edu).
