Sources: Data for 1974 and 1988 were obtained from archives of the Dirección General de Estadística y Censos, Tegucigalpa. Data for 1996 from files of local malaria control office: División de Enfermedades Transmitidas por Vectores, Centro de Salud, Cocobila.

1. Source: Fieldwork by Dodds in 1991-92. Areas reported in the table above were originally reported in manzanas and are uncorrected for reported estimation bias in order to maintain comparability with Pfeifer's interview data for Cocobila (see Dodds 1994:264-269).
2. Source: Pfeifer (1986).
3. For Belen residents, "Limonal" includes various place names on the Rio Tinto Negro including the village of Limonal and the sites of Klukum, Kungkung, Lasawika, Uhum, and Yamus.
4. For Belen residents, "Other" includes lands at Barra Patuca, Laguna de Caratasca, Ahuas, and the Rio Twas.
5. For both Belen and Cocobila, total areas of agricultural lands include fields, tree crops, and pastures. One manazana = 100 yards by 100 yards = 0.8360 hectares.
